A New Research Suggest That This Is False

Does diet effect skin health? Will changing what you eat improve your acne? Perhaps, but the answer is ultimately not quite as simple as you might think. There are several things that should be kept in mind.

Does Diet Impact Acne And Other Skin Conditions?

Head online to research diet and skin care. You will likely encounter people raving about fad diets which supposedly produce miraculous results. A good example of this would be a dairy-free diet, which promises a number of alleged benefits. Among them is the notion that staying away from dairy can improve your skin on several levels.

The problem with that? There isn’t very much science behind the belief that dairy-free is good for acne. Several fad diets are linked to skin benefits. There is very little to suggest that any of these diets help your skin. At the same time, diet shouldn’t be disregarded altogether. Certain things you eat, particularly if you eat them in abundance, can cause issues.

Still, a specific diet plan probably won’t work. Some swear by the keto diet, which cuts down your carbs. There is also a low-fat diet, which emphasizes foods with unrefined carbs. It also doesn’t help things that many dermatologists swear that diet directly impacts skin health. It is worth mentioning then that the American Academy of Dermatology does not currently have any specific diet suggestions. To be fair, it is true that correlations between diet and skin have been found. On the other hand, these correlations are very complex. In fact, they are so complex, we can’t be entirely sure of what it all really means.

In other words, you may not want to throw out your dairy products just yet. In fact, you may not want to make any dramatic changes to what you eat. Yet it is likely that you still want to do something.

Diet And Skin Quality

In the first place, understand this: Just because someone swears by a diet, it doesn’t mean you should, too. The changes to diet may play some role in things. However, other things may in fact influence what’s going on with that person’s skin. This is something that you need to remember.

Let’s get back to the subject of correlations. Sugar is certainly worth keeping in mind. If you are ingesting high amounts of sugar every day, it will cause a number of problems. One of those problems can certainly involve your skin. Anything that causes a dramatic spike in your blood sugar can potentially cause issues. High-glycemic foods can spike the glucose in your blood. Among other things, these foods can ramp up oil production. This can be a problem.

But fried foods? Dairy? It is ultimately difficult to say for sure. The fact of the matter is that studies are still being conducted. The information we have at present can only guide us with suggestions. We cannot say for sure that eliminating dairy will do any good. It certainly does not have any current place as a universal solution. However, limited studies are giving us an indication of what the answer might be.

Figuring Out The Link Between Diet And Skin

If all of this sounds a little confusing, don’t worry. To break it down, don’t try a fad diet. These diets cause problems on a number of levels. At best, they will accomplish very little. At the same time, look to things that spike blood sugar levels. There is a much clearer link between raised blood sugar and skin problems like acne. For example, the fact that French fries are fried isn’t really the issue, with regards to skin. What can cause problems for your skin is the blood sugar spike that occurs when you eat those fries. Processed carbs are something you should cut back on to begin with. Among other issues, these carbs can also cause those blood sugar surges we have been talking about.

Also keep in mind that acne is somewhat defined by genetics. Some people just have a natural predisposition to having skin issues like acne. While you should try to eat right, don’t think it will solve all of your acne complaints either. Consult a dermatologist for more assistance.
